Baltimore’s Tammie Miller Named Most Valuable Principal

Tammie Miller from Baltimore’s Gardenville Elementary was recognized as the Most Valuable Principal in the Playworks’ network of schools. Ms. Miller, a first-year Playworks principal, was honored at the 2009 Get in the Game dinner for her dynamic way of building play into the culture of her school. According to Playworks Program Manager Laura Deeprose, “Principal Miller welcomed us with open arms and engaged the entire school with all the different aspects that we offer.

What's New in Baltimore

Playworks Baltimore is moving!  Don’t worry, we are still going to putting the play back in 26 playgrounds across the city in 2009-10.  However, as of July 1st, 2009, we will be headquartered at Miller’s Court at 26th and Howard Streets.

Dwight Phyall

Dwight Phyall spent a year as a program coordinator at Dr. Rayner Browne Academy in East Baltimore. He now supports eight program coordinators in their quest to positively impact the lives of children and the surrounding community. Aside from preparing his living room for NFL games, Dwight is excited about his role within the organization and is looking forward to growing both professionally and personally.

Honour McClellan

Honour McClellan was a launch year program coordinator and program manager in Baltimore before moving into her current role. As program director, Honour manages three program managers, participates in curriculum development, and facilitates staff and teacher trainings. As a mother, Honour understands the power of play and is thrilled to be sharing it with all the kids in Baltimore City Public Schools.

Casey Kuzio

Casey Kuzio moved to Baltimore to work with Playworks after spending two years teaching seventh grade in Chicago. Much happier leading games at recess than she was organizing a classroom, Casey embraces the diverse, playful culture of Playworks and loves her job! Casey also loves being the lead receiver on her touch football team, weekly games of trivia and curling up with a good book.

Laura Deeprose

Laura Deeprose was a program coordinator at Moravia Park Primary School before moving into the program manager position. Laura currently supports eight coaches in Baltimore City Public Schools, and can't wait until they spread the mission of Playworks throughout the Charm City! She loves to be out at her schools, seeing firsthand the impact Playworks is having on children.
